Our overseas factories are messy with equipments or parts compared with our factories in Japan. A messy work place can be dangerous and decrease efficiency.
Right. I think that's because Japanese 5S methodology still hasn't spread into overseas factories.
是啊,那是因为其他国家的工厂没有推广类似日本“5S”的概念吧。
What is the 5S?
“5S”是什么?
5S is the name of a workplace organization methodology that uses five Japanese words. These Japanese words have been converted in English to Sorting, Setting-in-Order, Shining, Standardizing and Sustaining the Discipline.
“5S”是使用5个日语词汇整理工作场所的方法。这5个词汇在英语里的表述是Sorting(整理)、 Setting-in-Order(整顿)、 Shining(清扫)、Standardizing(清洁)、 Sustaining the Discipline(守纪)。
"Sorting" means to keep only essential items and eliminate things not required.
Sorting(整理)指在作业区域内只放置必要物品,清除无用物品。
"Set-in-Order" means there should be a place for everything and everything should be in its place. And the places should be easily-accessible.
